Broken screen detector

CHARACTERISTICS

THE BROKEN SCREEN DETECTOR (‘DCR’) is an excellent piece of equipment to install in your feed preparation production process. As its name suggests, its purpose is to detect unexpected breakages in grinding mill screens. If for any reason a significant amount of unmilled grain is found in the process area where there should only be feed flour, the Broken Screen Detector, or DCR, will alert you to a malfunction in the milling process. The DCR combines quality, warranty and service at an extremely competitive price.

The operation of the machine, patented by Barreal S.L. under Public Utility Model number 200701682 at the Patent and Trademark Office, is very simple and based on continuous statistical sampling, proportional to transported flow without interfering in the process. Product is collected from an accessible and non-disruptive point, analysed, and returned to the circuit without the need for intervention by facility operators. The machine continuously analyses the particle size of your product, and when it detects an abnormal increase in product with a particle size above the set point, it warns you of a malfunction in the milling process, normally a screen breakage. The means of indicating this fault is through an optical and/or acoustic device to be placed in the process control safe area. It is also possible to send the alarm signal to your factory control SCADA system, if required, to centralise all alerts.

Physically, it is based on a vibrating conveyor that analyses a fraction of the milled product from the flour circuit (under the auger, at the elevator outlet, or at another more suitable and accessible point) and returns it downstream to the same circuit. This continuous sampling of milled product, in the event of breakage, may become contaminated by coarse grain or unmilled product. The coarse grain will not be able to cross the vibrating conveyor and will be sent to a zone to be quantified. If the amount of coarse grain or off-grain product collected is small, a contact will be activated to warn of the anomalous situation. If on the other hand the amount in the batch reaches the threshold that delimits the non-tolerable limit of grain out of tolerance, another contact will be activated to trigger an alarm warning of the exceptional situation and requiring possible action by factory control or maintenance personnel. In this way you will avoid quality problems in the final product, and thus quality ‘non-conformities’ from your customers.

At Construcciones y Montajes Barreal we recommend using the Broken Screen Detector for all factories with flour from cereal ground for food in their portfolio, especially sifter feed mills that use truncated cone-shaped sieves in perforated plate. Sifting is carried out via brushes attached to the drive shaft, with the feed incorporated into the machine itself, with pulley and V-belt transmission.
